About Us

The Wellsboro Police Department is a full service, sworn law enforcement agency in the borough of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. The police department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Currently, the department consists of six officers and one Chief of Police.
Some of the services provided by the department include:
• Police patrol including vehicle, bicycle, and foot patrol
• Investigation of crimes within the borough
• Investigation of vehicle crashes within the borough
• Enforcement of the Pennsylvania crimes code
• Enforcement of the Pennsylvania vehicle code
• Enforcement of the Borough’s local ordinances
• Vehicle lockouts
• Traffic control for borough events
• Community relations events
• Vacation home checks

Mission Statement:


Wellsboro Police Department consistently and with uniformity strives to maintain social order and provide professional law enforcement services to citizens in the community, within prescribed ethical, budgetary, and constitutional constraints. This agency actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens to reduce and limit the opportunities for crime and to assist in bringing to justice those that break the law.



The Wellsboro Police Departments organizational values are the standards for measurement by which we hold ourselves accountable. The scope of these values shall extend internally to include supervisory-subordinate as well as peer relationships, and externally to include all citizens, regardless of their standing.
